George Patton is a Professorial Fellow in Adolescent Health Research at the University of Melbourne and a Senior Principal Research Fellow with the National Health and Medical Research Council. He has a clinical background in child and adolescent psychiatry and research background in developmental epidemiology. He has led long term Australian longitudinal studies on the health, growth and emotional development of children and adolescents, including a prospective intergenerational cohort.
George has also been engaged in large scale prevention trials promoting health, growth and wellbeing in community and school settings. He chaired the Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing and led two special Series in adolescent health for the Journal. He has had consultant and advisory roles with the WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, USAID and the World Bank.
