Professor Susan Sawyer holds the Geoff and Helen Handbury Chair of Adolescent Health at the University of Melbourne. She is Director, Royal Children’s Hospital Centre for Adolescent Health, a World Health Organization collaborating centre. A paediatrician by training, she has helped develop the field of adolescent health in Australia and increasingly internationally in her role as president, International Association for Adolescent Health. She is widely published, with clinical and research interests primarily relating to quality health care for adolescents, including mental health. She has played advisory roles with the World Health Organisation and UNICEF and was a Commissioner for the 2016 Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing.
